Special Members-only Pilates Workshop

SmartVITA hosted a special members-only Pilates workshop at the studio’s tranquil green courtyard. This insightful workshop explores the hip joint and its common imbalances in today’s populations.

We all had a chance to learn more about our own imbalances by pairing up to complete a postural analysis guided by Lynn. Our hips are probably the most well used joint in the body as we walk and run with them every day. She helped each of us to palpate and get to know our hips’ landmarks better to find imbalances. She also explained that each body is different due to our lifestyles and habits. While our hips provide us with a greater range of motion and flexibility than most other joints in the body, they are not indestructible and can wear down with age, use over time, or injury.

On that note, Lynn led us into a program of exercises to improve our hips’ mobility, stability, strength and balance. We pair up again to experience how different movements affects different people depending on their own imbalances. There was so much fun and energy during the mat class, everyone was engaged with the movement which was amazing considering there were a fair few first-timers in the room.

The workout ended with a group photo, and, of course, to chill out with glasses of champagne and finger food.
